With 50 places available, Dulux Academy, which will also celebrated its first anniversary in the same week, invited current painting and decorating apprentices to take part in the two-day 'Masterclass' events, designed to support and supplement their onsite and college training.
Those attending were given the opportunity to take part in a range of interior decorating based activities including using some of the latest dust-free sanding equipment from Mirka, whilst getting expert tips on application techniques from the team. With supplier based spot prizes and goodie bags on completion of the two days the apprentices not only learnt a lot but returned to work enthused about Dulux Academy.
"The week was a great success! Our customers and apprentices posted about the activities on social media. Since delivering the Apprentice Week events we have seen course bookings come through for those that attended with one contractor booking 24 places for his apprentices in the coming months." said Vickie Mather, Dulux Academy Manager.
The week concluded with the Dulux Academy 1st Birthday party where apprentices, their employers, decorators, suppliers and AkzoNobel colleagues all celebrated the achievements of a busy year which include training over 1,600 individuals, hosting 69 key customer visits and publishing a Course Prospectus containing 53 courses for decorators to fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.
With a roaming caricaturist, a spectacular tiered birthday cake and the Dulux Dog with a party hat on it was the perfect end to the week!
